Our site is hosted on the extremely versatile, if somewhat ill-maintained, Wikidot platform. It's a Polish website made back in the wild west Web 2.0 years, focused on letting you create wiki sites quickly and easily. It's easy to get started with Wikidot, but you should be aware of some caveats:
About HTTPS on the site
You may — if you're very clever — have noticed that your browser is probably saying something about this site not being secure, like this:
This means that our site is not encrypted which means that hackers and ghastly things like that could technically see what you send to and from the site. This is actually fine, because during your web browser's dealings with http://backrooms-wiki.wikidot.com/ no private information is shared.
That being said, this is only an issue for our wiki. When you make an account for Wikidot, you actually are doing it via HTTPS so any info you share there — your email, your Facebook account (but actually please don't use the Facebook option, it might break your account.) and even your Wikidot password — are transmitted securely.
