The foggy fields of Level 10.

Level 10, an infinite foggy landscape of empty fields, is the 11th level of the Backrooms. The fields are divided by lines of shrubbery, though often the areas themselves are so expansive as to leave all edges of a given plot obscured by thick mist.

infoDescription

Level 10’s fields are expansive, and the fog makes navigation difficult. Despite this, and in contrast to many other levels, Level 10 is not known to restructure itself when areas are unobserved. The level is presumably entirely mappable, though the M.E.G. sees little reason for pursuing this area of research.

Petrichor is smelled all throughout the level, the grass being wet as though it had recently rained. Along with the grass, Level 10 contains bushes and some wildflowers, though these are few and far between.

Many fields on the level are made up of wheat, or sometimes barley. Though this is usually ready for harvest at time of location, this is not to be relied on as a food source as it is widely known not to be safe for consumption. Its nutritional value is negligible — even fermented products such as beer or wheat cannot be made with it. The M.E.G. and B.N.T.G. rely on Level 184 for these purposes instead, along with their own farms set up on levels with more fertile ground.

groupsBases, Outposts & Communities

Records of bases, outposts & communities on Level 10 go back for many years.

Redton

An early project of the M.E.G., Redton was a small outpost housed in tents constructed in 2013. It focused on research, though little was ever completed — the outpost lasted only 2 years before its final transmission was received on 19/02/20151.

M.E.G. Transmission: 19/02/2015

Supplies: Nearly depleted.
Structures: Many tents have collapsed. Limited shelter.
Health: Acute joint pain debilitating many members. Almond water does not help.2

M.E.G. Transmission System

This settlement has not been relocated since then. The M.E.G. has a large bounty of supplies on the location of the settlement and its populations's remains, though the likelihood of these still being intact after all these years is slim.

Wheatensborough

A more eccentric group, Wheatensborough was a large and sophisticated community based on rural British villages. The population of Wheatensborough was made up of regular families living in houses and elders who all lived together in a central tower. All such structures were made out of wood.

Reportedly, the population of Wheatensborough were educated by the elders to believe that the village was located in the Frontrooms, even when certain facts3 suggested they were not on Earth. Consequently, anyone who was part of the regular village population who discovered or commented on the fact that the village was located in the Backrooms was exiled by the elders of the village.

The M.E.G. has never located this village, but it has been known of since 2014, when a group of 3 exiled individuals4 reached Base Alpha and told their story. This was followed by 2 other such individuals over the next year, though no new former residents of Wheatensborough have appeared since early 2015.

searchDiscovery

Level 10 has been known to wanderers since extremely early into human exploration of the Backrooms due to its relative ease of entry.

The oldest report of the level received by the M.E.G. was as follows:

M.E.G. Official New Location Report

Hello, M.E.G. — I seem to have discovered a new level? This place keeps on going, apparently.
Environment: There are already some non-M.E.G. people here, I think. I saw an abandoned village, and it seems man-made. It's a foggy field and the place is extremely wet, my trousers are soaked at the bottom. Weather never changed while I was there, just an overcast sky.
Entities: I didn't see any?

meeting_roomEntrances and Exits

Entrances

  • Jumping high fences in Level 9 can often drop one off in this level, by way of no-clipping through upon hitting the ground5.
  • Some streets on Level 11 bring one out of the city and into a more rural area, transitioning seamlessly into Level 10.

Exits

  • Sometimes, a dirt road will appear. If it is followed for many miles, it will become paved and eventually lead into Level 11.
  • Finding a patch of canola among the wheat and trampling on it will lead one to no-clip through the ground and reappear in Level 184.
